The upcoming Municipal Primary has statewide judges, local judges, county officials, township and borough officials, and school boards on the ballot. Be VERY CAREFUL voting for judges and school board members because candidates may be cross-filed. This means a Republican may appear on the Democratic ballot and vice versa. If party affiliation is important to you, you will want to keep this in mind.
See all the candidates that may appear on your ballot at www.lehighcounty.org.
Democrat Joyce Moore is running for County Commissioner in Lehigh District 5, hopefully to replace Republican Nathan Brown who left his seat before the end of his term. Joyce is a member of the Board of Supervisors for Upper Milford Township, so she is familiar with local needs and issues. A small business owner, she is a Chartered Financial Consultant with 30 years of experience. She has also been an active member of the League of Women Voters, the Emmaus/Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council, and the Appalachian Mountain Club.
“My life has always revolved around the idea of service — service to my clients, service to my community, and service to country.”
Being a parent at both the traditional and charter schools in the East Penn District allows Democrat Naomi Winch to bring a unique perspective to a district that prides itself on excellence in education. Her experiences give her the ability to be a liaison between residents and schools as well as support the need for education to evolve in order to prepare our children to become part of a global society. Devoted to her family and her community, she has had her kids in both public and charter schools and as a foster parent has experience with kids who have serious challenges in their lives. As a school board director the last few years she supported expansion of the property tax rebate for vulnerable residents as well as increasing wages for lowest paid staff during the Covid crisis. She will be a great representative of all of us as parents and residents to ensure all our kids thrive.
